5 Tips to Lose Belly Weight Fast

5 Tips to Lose Belly Weight Fast

Keep Active

I know this is an obvious one but an important one too. The best way to use up calories is by keeping active. I have found, in the past, that the quickest way to lose weight is by jogging but I have also found it to be the toughest type of exercise and most difficult to keep up especially during the cold winter months. It doesn’t have to be a lot of jogging and 12 miles a week will help you on your way to losing weight.

If for some reason you are unable to jog e.g. because you have dodgy knees or find it particularly tough (like me!) then why not give cycling or swimming a go?

It’s all about getting your heart rate up to help get rid of the pounds.

If you are in the UK and looking for someone to go cycling with (as it can boring going on your own) you can always try finding a buddy on http://www.goskyride.com/.

I have done a number of rides through Breeze, which is for women only, and the aim is to encourage women into cycling gently. We started off with short rides and the Breeze Champion gradually built this up until we were doing 40-50 mile rides.

You can find Breeze rides on http://www.goskyride.com/. It is a great way to meet other women who have similar goals to keep fit and lose weight.

Eat more Protein in your diet

Eating more protein in your diet and less processed fat can help to reduce the fat around your belly. It is a known fact that protein takes longer to digest and therefore the body burns more calories to process it. Also, it stays in your tummy longer so you feel fuller for longer.

The best flat-belly fighting proteins are white chicken or turkey, seafood, pork tenderloin, lean beef and low-fat dairy. I enjoy chicken or turkey but they can be a bit boring so I spice my chicken up with some reggae reggae Jerk seasoning and it turns a boring salad into a really enjoyable one.

What I do is add two teaspoons of the seasoning into a small glass and fill it approximately a third of the way with water. I suppose it depends how spicy you want it how much water you add. I cook the chicken partly and make sure the frying pan is hot and pour it in. It keeps the chicken moist and adds so much flavour.

I also enjoy the Slimming World recipe for Turkey and Bacon Hotpot. I find it simple to make and never goes wrong – I like recipes that I can’t mess up. Why not try it out http://www.slimmingworld.co.uk/recipes/turkey-bacon-and-thyme-hotpot.aspx.

Eat more “good” fats

At this point I am not going to into the different types of fats as that is a topic to be covered in an article of its own.

All we need to know are what constitutes the “good” fats. These include the following:

  • Avocados – I love avocados but if you are not so keen why not just add some small pieces on your salad.
  • Nuts
  • Fish
  • Fish Oil Supplements
  • Nut Butters
  • Seeds – I also add a handful of seeds onto my salad.
  • Olive Oil

Cut Carbs down in your diet

Restricting your carbs is a very effective way of losing fat.

When you cut down on your carbs your appetite will also go down. I found this when I was counting my calories and avoiding carbs when possible. I was feeling less hungry and eating smaller meals as well. I cut down on the refined carbs such as white breads and pastas and increased my protein intake. Saying this I do enjoy having a Jacket potato with a salad though.

Regular Sleep Patterns and Enough of it!

This is definitely something that I get right. I have always liked my sleep and tend to have 8 to 10 hours sleep per day. Going to bed at the same time each evening and waking up at the same time can help you with fighting weight gain. Having Chaotic sleep habits can result in your body secreting fat-storing hormones like Cortisol making it more difficult to shed the pounds.

In summary: Keep active, sleep well and eat healthily.
